UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors wear out with time and require to be replaced. When replacing them, it is crucial that the new handles match the critical dimensions of the handle that was previously used.
The three measurements to check are the top screw's position as well as the key hole and lever dimensions. Refer to the size guide for assistance in this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be used on replacement or new doors. This type of handle is available in many designs and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from durable materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a robust design. upvc door handles are inline and operate from the same spindle and screw fixings. They are easily installed on doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.
The handle can be placed and angled to accommodate all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever can also be reduced to accommodate the widest range of locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is further back from the door. A lever that is shorter is an excellent option for doors where the latch could be operated by a thumb turn inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are typically used on UPVC double-glazed doors and come in many variations & finishes.
The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in several finishes including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.
All UPVC handle lever pads include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a larger size of handle which can often be a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have springs, which eliminate the issue of door handles that sag out of horizontal position when not in use.
It is crucial to ensure that the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement can also be referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the right handles.
Once you have decided on the correct PZ size, you will need to make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are typically round or square, with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC Lever Pads that we sell are sprung. This means they will return to a horizontal position after they are not in use instead of hanging, and possibly securing to the frame. This keeps draughts out of the home. You will also find that the majority of UPVC handle lever pad style handles are swivel which allows you to place them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are typically used on uPVC doors, but they can be utilized on other types of door. They work by using a key that unlock a cylinder case which will reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with internal and external doors usually requiring different levels of security.
The selection of a cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with a more secure cylinder while doors inside can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that increase security, like anti-drill or anti bump properties.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however, when this isn't possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is essential that it is not too long.
The design of the latest cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These features are designed to minimize the chance of a attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This can deflect the attack, and protect your door.
Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and easier to achieve than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a break-in, which could hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to bring your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after using. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring built into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or drop once the locking mechanism is removed. This simple component is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also prevents your door from getting stuck in either the closed or open position as they aren't easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specially designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung, they will not fit unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of the door handle for many brands of uPVC doors. They have a square cut-out that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.
These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution for the issue of door handles that have become sagging.
